Updated: Crews Working to Repair Water Main Break in Hollywood Hills and Restore Water Service to Affected Customers

August 7, 2026

12:00 Update: Soon after issuing this news release published at 11:30 a.m., LADWP crews restored water to the affected area except for 29 remaining customers. Crews continue to work to restore the remaining customers impacted.

LOS ANGELES (August 7, 2026)– Approximately 300 LADWP water customers in the Hollywood Hills in the vicinity of Wonderland Avenue west of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, remain without water this morning after LADWP water crews completing repairs on an earlier leak, detected a second leak around 4 A.M.

The initial water leak on a 12-inch water main was reported on Thursday, August 6, at around 1 P.M. LADWP crews restored water service at around 2:30 A.M. on Friday, August 7, and were performing street repairs when they discovered a second leak just a few feet away from the first leak, around 4 A.M.

LADWP is mobilizing bottled water delivery to customers affected by this water outage, while crews continue to work as safely and efficiently as possible to restore water to affected customers. Once water service is restored, customers should let faucets and showers run for 5 to 10 minutes. This will help flush out any sediment or trapped air that may be present in the water lines.

This pipe was installed in 1959 and had experienced two leaks in the past twenty-one years. It was not currently scheduled for replacement. Due to the two back-to-back leaks, LADWP will evaluate this section of pipe to determine timeline for replacement.

LADWP will continue to monitor water quality in the affected area to ensure drinking water remains safe to drink. Customers who may have further questions about their tap water or would like to request a water quality test at their home or business can call the LADWP Water Quality Hotline at (213) 367-3182 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or 1-800-DIAL-DWP for 24-hour assistance.
