Pacific Palisades Customers Should Continue to Conserve Water
LOS ANGELES (October 10, 2026) – Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) crews continue working to address a water leak at 13316 W. Sunset Boulevard in Brentwood. The leak involves an air vacuum valve connected to the Westgate Trunk Line, which serves the westside portion of LADWP’s water service area, including the Pacific Palisades.
As crews depressurize the pipe to begin onsite repairs, water service in Pacific Palisades remains safe and reliable. LADWP has activated contingency plans to prepare the backup water supply for the area, installed earlier this year; in addition, all water tanks serving the Palisades are currently full. These measures are being taken out of an abundance of caution to help minimize the risk of service interruption.
Because the water system is pressurized, crews must carefully close large valves in Brentwood to prevent additional impacts elsewhere in the system. This process may take several hours to complete; however, customers continue to have access to drinking water. LADWP is asking customers to conserve water to help maintain system pressure and ensure stable supplies for the community.
To support public safety around the work site, all eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of Sunset Boulevard between Allenford Avenue and Mandeville Canyon Road are closed. For everyone’s safety, cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
10/23/26: Updated to clarify that the leak involved an air vacuum valve connected to the Westgate Trunk Line and not the 36-in Westgate Trunkline itself.
