LOS ANGELES, CA (July 22, 2026) – At approximately 8:30 p.m. tonight, following steady progress on LADWP’s repair of the ruptured large diameter pipeline on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, our crews observed water coming up from the area currently being backfilled and prepared for paving. While compacting the concrete aggregate base in advance of final street resurfacing, water began to pool at the surface toward the eastern edge of the work area. Crews are now excavating to find the source of the leak and assessing the extent of the damage to immediately begin additional repairs.
The extent of the needed additional work and the impact to the estimated timeline for completion is not known at this time. This is an evolving situation and LADWP will provide additional information as soon as it is available.
We appreciate our neighbors and motorists continued patience as we work to complete the repairs and repaving.
