LOS ANGELES (January 14, 2022) – On January 18, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) crews began replacing a water pipeline along Barham Blvd. from just south of Craig Dr. to just south of Lakeside Plaza Dr. near Hollywood Hills. To complete this work, sections of Barham Blvd. will be reduced to one lane in each direction through May 2022.
This important infrastructure project will replace the 8-inch and 12-inch pipe currently in place with new 20-inch mainline pipe, improving water system reliability and fire safety in the area.
Crews are working in 300-foot sections of Barham Blvd. at a time, with two lanes of traffic maintained outside the work area. Some street parking on the east side of Barham Blvd. may be restricted. There should be little to no impact on pedestrian traffic along sidewalks along the project route.
Work will occur Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Some Saturday work may be necessary. The daily schedule was lengthened by a Peak Hour Exemption received from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, enabling LADWP to reduce the length of the project from 8 months to 4.5 months. Outside of work hours, traffic will be returned to normal.
Traffic Control Officers (TCOs) will be in place at key intersections to help move traffic along during the early stages of the project. Emergency vehicles will have access to the project area throughout the work. Changeable Message Signs (CMS) have been placed in strategic locations to alert motorists of the construction occurring along Barham Blvd.
LADWP is working with the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles Department of Transportation and Council District 4 as well as local community organizations to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible.
