The air sampling currently being conducted next to the Hyde Park explosion which occurred on September 6, 2017 discovered high levels of gas in the vicinity of the electrical vault located at 6421 Brynhurst Ave. LADWP crews have notified LAFD, LAPD and SoCal Gas for further evaluation as the levels detected are considered to be a potential public safety hazard. Earlier, LADWP reported that based on the initial investigation, no electrical event or outage occurred at the time of the explosion. LADWP will continue to work with SoCal Gas and LAFD to investigate the cause of the explosion
