Crews Will Work Through the Night To Restore Power to Impacted Customers

Crews are working hard to restore power to all customers as quickly and safely as possible and will work around the clock to until all customers have service restored. However, with the high number of individual outage incidents and the intense weather expected to continue through the night, LADWP power system staff currently estimates restoration will take between 12 and 24 hours. Depending on whether heavy rains and wind continue and the conditions and complexity of repairs involved, restoration could take longer for some affected customers. This is the best estimate available at this time and we will update as we get additional information. Our crews are working on outages across the city caused by the strongest wind and rain storm to hit the region in many years. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to get power restored as quickly and safely as possible.

Chinatown- 2,290 customers without power

Boyle Heights- 890 customers without power

East Hollywood – 6,000 customers without power

Mid Wilshire – 3,600 customers without power

Sherman Oaks – 2,600 customers without power

Larchmont – 3,200 customers without power

Green Meadows – 4,400 customers without power

Vermont/Slauson- 2,244 customers without power

Arlington Heights- 1,871 customers without power

Harvard Heights- 1,797 customers without power

Reseda – 3,000 customers without power

Van Nuys – 3,800 customers without power

Palms – 3,400 customers without power

Del Rey – 3,400 customers without power

Korea Town – 3,500 customers without power

Hollywood- 1,422 customers without power

The most frequent causes of power outages during heavy rain storms are downed trees, dried palm fronds, tree branches from trees on both private and public property falling and making contact with power lines. This can result in extended outages as trees often need to be removed before our crews can begin restoration work.

LADWP added extra crews in advance of the latest storm systems and they are currently working in affected neighborhoods under tough weather conditions.

LADWP urges all customers to use caution around downed or dangling power lines or poles. If you see a downed wire, always assume it is LIVE and immediately dial 9-1-1. Never touch a downed power line or anything that’s touching a downed power line — including water.
