Teams practice answering challenging college-level math, science and technology questions posted by moderators in preparation for regional competition on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at LADWP John Ferraro Headquarters Building. The winning team on February 24 will represent the City and Region at the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science National Science Bowl in Washington, DC, April 26-30, 2018.
LADWP regional championship teams have won four national titles and placed among the top five teams 11 times. Science Bowl showcases the talents, skills and abilities of some of the city’s best high school science scholars.
LADWP Science Bowl is one of nine regional competitions in California and 65 nationwide at the high school level. Since the program began in 1991 more than 200,000 students have participated in this program from throughout the U.S. This year about 9,000 students will participate at the high school level and another 4,000 at the middle school level. LADWP Science Bowl covers the geographic area of the Los Angeles Unified School District and includes public, charter, private and parochial schools.
