LOS ANGELES (February 3, 2025)— LADWP is continuing work to restore safe and reliable drinking water to customers affected by a Do Not Drink notice in the Pacific Palisades in portions of the 90272 and in the LADWP Service Area immediately south of the 90272 zip code that lie north of San Vicente Blvd.
We know that many residents have questions about water quality testing and the process LADWP is following in close coordination with the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water (CA-DDW) to methodically and rigorously screen, flush and test our water to begin the process of lifting the Do Not Drink notice for affected customers.
LADWP’s water quality restoration plan has been approved by CA-DDW and involves multiple steps that are strictly followed until tap water is deemed safe to drink and meets all standards for quality and safety.
Since January 25, LADWP has been flushing pipelines and service connections within the affected areas. Flushing is a mechanism used to move water in and out of the system to remove any possible contaminants. LADWP water quality team members have also collected water samples from nearly one hundred service locations for testing. This same process must be completed for all nine pressure zones that make up the water system in the affected communities that are covered under the Do Not Drink notice currently in effect. These activities must be done in coordination with CA-DDW and may include a defined sequence of flushing, testing and retesting within the nine service zones and once water sample results are cleared by the CA-DDW, LADWP can begin lifting the Do Not Drink notice, in phases for affected residents.
This comprehensive water quality testing cycle is estimated to take weeks to accomplish due to the rigorous standards and time-intensive process. Please be aware that LADWP is doing all we can to accelerate the process. However, if water results require additional sampling and testing, it can extend the timeframe to clear and lift the notice for affected residents.

Once a zone has been cleared of contaminants, LADWP will communicate the information to customers through multiple channels including on www.ladwp.com, our social media channels, and email communications to customers.
Until LADWP communicates that the Do Not Drink notice has been lifted for affected customers, continue to follow the recommendations included in the notice if you live in the Pacific Palisades in portions of the 90272 and in the LADWP Service Area immediately south of the 90272 zip code that lie north of San Vicente Blvd.
We know this process presents a significant inconvenience for our customers but is critical in order to protect public health and ensure the quality and safety of the water we serve to all customers in the affected area.
