LOS ANGELES (December 26, 2019)–LADWP power crews continue to work on power restoration as strong winds and heavy rain in the early morning caused power outages. Fallen trees, palm fronds and flooded underground vaults are among the main causes of these incidents and due to the complexity of the damage, repairs are time consuming and are taking long to repair. Our crews will continue working round the clock to restore electricity as quickly and as safely as possible.
At this time, the most affected neighborhoods include Leimert Park, El Sereno, Silver Lake, Griffith Park, Brentwood and Westwood. As of 5:00 p.m., approximately 10,600 out of 1.5 million LADWP customers are without power. LADWP has restored over 12,000 customers impacted by outages since 2:00 a.m.
LADWP will continue to provide regular updates via Twitter and on the Nextdoor.com social media platform. Customers should follow us on Twitter @LADWP and check your Nextdoor accounts for updates. Customers experiencing an outage should report it online at www.ladwp.com/outages from a desktop computer or mobile device or call 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397).
If you see downed wires, assume they are live, stay clear and call 911 immediately. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
