WHAT:
An event to highlight the first kale harvest from the newly-installed indoor pod farm. Installed last October, the project provides an environment to grow and harvest vegetables year-round in any climate for the benefit of the community.
LADWP is one of about a dozen utilities nationwide to participate in a two-year study led by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to advance indoor food production as a solution to reduce energy and water use as well as carbon emissions.
LAPD Devonshire PALS, which provides free enrichment activities to local youth, will maintain the indoor farm and connect with local residents and organizations who can benefit from the harvest.
