WHAT:
The Los Angeles City Council will vote on whether the City will move to Phase 3 of the Water Conservation Plan Ordinance. Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) customers have been under Phase 2, three-days-a-week watering since 2009. If approved by Council to move to Phase 3, all LADWP residential and commercial customers will be limited to two-days-a-week outdoor watering, before 9 am or after 4 p.m., starting June 1.
On May 10, the Mayor, at the recommendation of LADWP, proposed going to phase 3 in light of the declaration of a water shortage emergency by the regional water wholesaler, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California which called upon its member agencies dependent on State Water Project supplies, to cut water use.
