LOS ANGELES (April 9, 2019)–A major windstorm affecting the southland has caused multiple power outages in LA neighborhoods including portions of the Hollywood Hills, South LA, Koreatown, Mid-Wilshire, Silver Lake, Bel Air and Encino, among others. As of 10 p.m. tonight, approximately 35,000 customers are without power out of 1.5 million customers served by LADWP. Most affected neighborhoods are in the “Metro” portions of LA, located south of the Hollywood Hills.
LADWP crews are currently working in difficult, high-wind conditions and will work throughout the night and tomorrow to restore power as quickly and safely as possible to affected customers. At this time, customers without power should plan for an outage lasting between 12 – 24 hours. It is important to note that some outages will be restored much quicker, while others may take longer to restore due to the extent of wind-related damage and the complexity of repairs required.
LADWP will continue to provide regular updates via Twitter and on the Nextdoor.com social media platform. Customers should follow us on Twitter @LADWP and check your Nextdoor accounts for updates.
Customers experiencing an outage should report it online at www.ladwp.com/outages from a desktop computer or mobile device. They can also call 1800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397).
If you see downed wires, assume they are live, stay clear and call 911 immediately.
We appreciate our customers’ patience as our crews work as safely as possible to restore power as quickly as they can to affected customers.
