LOS ANGELES (August 31, 2017) — LADWP power crews fully restored power to approximately 11,000 Boyle Heights customers at 5:40 a.m. today; about 800 customers in other parts of Los Angeles remain without power. Staff worked through the night implementing complicated repairs and rerouting power to circuits that are less overloaded in an effort to restore power as quickly as possible. Overnight, the total number of LADWP customers impacted by power outages peaked at 14,000 out of our 1.5 million power customers.
During periods of excessively hot temperatures for extended periods of time, electrical equipment can become overheated as customers typically operate air conditioners all at once, increasing the strain on neighborhood power distribution equipment. Other LA neighborhoods experiencing outages include Mid-Wilshire, Van Nuys, Panorama City and Pacoima.
We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. All are urged to conserve energy throughout the week as high temperatures persist.
To report a power outage in areas other than Boyle Heights, customers should call 1-800-DIAL-DWP. To check the status of an outage, visit www.ladwp.com or follow @LADWP on Twitter.
