LADWP to Make Temporary Adjustments to Water System Due to Infrastructure Projects in Eagle Rock and Solano Reservoirs |
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will make temporary changes to the flow of water in a portion of Northeast Los Angeles and parts of Downtown L.A. beginning next week through May 2015. These operational changes are related to infrastructure enhancement projects in the Eagle Rock Reservoir and the Solano Reservoir, located near Dodger Stadium. The system adjustments are not expected to significantly affect the availability of water for LADWP customers, but continued conservation is encouraged.
“We are making these short-term operational changes to our system to make sure we can safely work on key infrastructure repairs in Eagle Rock and Solano while maintaining dependable water service for our customers,” said Marty Adams, LADWP Senior Assistant General Manager, Water System. “We have taken every step to do this work with little to no impacts to Northeast LA primarily serviced by Eagle Rock Reservoir, and parts of Downtown LA and Echo Park served by Solano. However, the distribution system will definitely be stretched to its limits for the next two months, as some of the redundancy built into the system will be reduced as work is underway. That’s why we continue to urge Angelenos to conserve water as part of Mayor Garcetti’s goal of reducing citywide water consumption by 20%.” The work being done involves replacing key valves at Eagle Rock Reservoir as LADWP prepares to replace its cover before higher demand Summer months, and replacing the liner in Solano Reservoir. LADWP is asking for customer’s help during this time. Residential and business customers alike are asked to continue using water as efficiently as possible, and report leaks immediately by calling 1-800-DIAL-DWP.
