LA CityView and KLCS to Run Final Round of Competition
Los Angeles – The gripping final round of competition in the 17th annual LADWP Science Bowl, captured on film, will enjoy eight airings this month between April 16 – 27 on two local television stations.
The special half-hour presentation features the teams from North Hollywood High School and Harvard-Westlake School, the finalists narrowed down from a field of 42 teams, in a classic buzzer-style Q&A competition vying for the title of regional champion. The program also includes highlights footage, interviews, the hands-on competition with team members racing self-propelled vehicles and, of course, the stunning conclusion and the announcement of the winning team.

A proud LADWP tradition and excellent example of the Department’s commitment to the Los Angeles educational community, Science Bowl tests the city’s sharpest students’ reflexes, teamwork skills and knowledge of science, math and technology in a fun competitive atmosphere following a television game show format.
The winner of the match represents the city of Los Angeles and the LADWP Science Bowl regional competition at the U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl, held in Washington, D.C. from April 30 to May 5, 2009.
Schools representing the LADWP Science Bowl and the city of Los Angeles have among the best records at the National Science Bowl compared to any region or state in the nation. National championships were won by Van Nuys High School in 1995, Venice High School in 1996 and 1997 and North Hollywood High School in 2001. In total the LADWP regional championship teams have won trophies (placed 1st to 5th) nine out of the last 13 years.
