APRIL 20, 2022 (LOS ANGELES)—This Earth Day, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) encourages all Angelenos to join the Department in creating a sustainable future by reducing their carbon footprint and saving water and energy. LADWP has many programs and rebates customers can take advantage of that will help them be more eco-friendly at home, while saving money on their water and electric bill.
This year, conserving water has never been more important. California is in a third consecutive year of drought and water supplies are limited. To help customers conserve and save money on their water bill, LADWP recently increased rebates on appliances and fixtures. LADWP’s rebate for high-efficiency clothes washers increased to $500, from $400 while the rebate for water-efficient toilets increased to $250, from $150. For business customers, rebates for low-flush toilets increased to $300, from $250. The increased rebates are available now to all LADWP customers and will translate into ongoing, monthly bill savings for customers who take advantage of replacing their less efficient appliances and fixtures. Visit www.ladwp.com/save for residential rebate information. Visit www.ladwp.com/cwr for commercial rebate information.
As the weather starts to warm up and demand for energy increases, customers with smart thermostats are also encouraged to enroll in LADWP’s Power Savers Program by visiting https://enrollmythermostat.com/ladwp/. Power Savers is an energy management program available to all residential and small commercial electric customers with qualified internet-connected thermostats. The program helps reduce stress on the power grid during high-demand times, when temperatures are hot and demand for energy soars. Power Savers participants agree to allow LADWP to remotely adjust their internet-connected thermostat up to four degrees during high electricity demand events.
Participating customers receive a $125 Amazon gift card per thermostat (limited to two qualifying thermostats per household) after enrolling. In addition, customers will receive a $60 Amazon gift card per thermostat (limited to two qualifying thermostats per household) for each year of program participation.
Customers who want to enroll in the Power Savers Program but need to purchase or upgrade a smart thermostat can shop LADWP’s Efficient Product Marketplace at https://marketplace.ladwp.com/ for a variety of energy-efficient models and receive up to a $75 instant rebate (rebates limited to two thermostats per household). Smart thermostats make it easy to set schedules that help save energy and money. The Efficient Product Marketplace also has rebates for other energy-efficient products including power strips, televisions and refrigerators.
In addition to shopping our Efficiency Marketplace and participating in our many rebate programs, customers are invited to join us at the Chatsworth Nature Preserve Earth Day Open House on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Chatsworth Nature Preserve is the only nature preserve in the City of Los Angeles. This event is a once-a-year opportunity when the facility is opened to the public. Event highlights include an opening ceremony with a Native American blessing, guided nature hikes, live animal exhibitions and a community resource fair.
