LOS ANGELES — As of 8:30 a.m. today, LADWP crews have restored service to more than 52,000 of its 1.4 million electric customers who were without power as a result of the strong rain and wind storm moving through the Los Angeles area. Approximately 23,000 customers are currently without power.
Yesterday’s rains and the winds sustaining through this morning caused multiple outages caused by downed power lines. Some of the most frequent causes of power outages during rains and windstorms are severely dried out palm fronds, tree branches and other debris fall and make contact or sever power lines. LADWP crews continue to work around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. The following communities have the most number of customers currently impacted:
LADWP urges all customers to use caution around downed or dangling power wires or poles. Always assume a downed line is still energized. Never touch one.
