LOS ANGELES — Approximately 33,200 of LADWP’s 1.4 million customers are currently without power as of 11:45 a.m., and LADWP crews continue to work around the clock to restore electricity to all customers impacted by power outages due to high winds. Wind speeds yesterday and today included gusts of up to 45 mph causing multiple outages caused by downed power lines.
Since the storm began yesterday, LADWP has restored service to nearly 55,000 electric customers who lost power due to the rain and wind. Some of the most frequent causes of power outages during rains and windstorms are severely dried out palm fronds, tree branches and other debris falling. LADWP crews continue to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. The following communities have the most number of customers currently impacted:
LADWP urges all customers to use caution around downed or dangling power wires or poles. Always assume a downed line is still energized. Never touch one.
