LADWP Continues Installation of Critical Water Line |
Los Angeles – The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) announces a full closure on Coldwater Canyon Ave. from Moorpark St. to Ventura Blvd. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. as replacement of the 100 year-old City Trunk Line project continues. During this half-day closure, construction crews will be installing new traffic control striping and delineation in preparation for a new work zone immediately north of the existing one to Moorpark St. Access provisions will be made for local residents, delivery and service vehicles within the affected area.
Once the new work zone is in place on Saturday, February 1, motorists will have access to one traffic lane going northbound and one lane southbound on Coldwater Canyon Ave. Moorpark St. will remain at one lane for eastbound traffic and one lane for westbound traffic. These temporary one-lane closures will be in place through June of 2014. All work south of Ventura Blvd. has been completed and will not be impacted by future closures. Project Background The City Trunk Line South Unit 5 project consists of a 6950-foot (1.3 miles), 60-inch diameter steel pipe along Coldwater Canyon Ave. and Moorpark Street. It is one of several phases of pipe installation designed to replace an aging element in the LADWP water distribution system. The new welded steel pipeline will improve the reliability and flexibility of the water system and is expected to last for a century. Construction started on June 1, 2011 on Coldwater Canyon Avenue between Van Noord Avenue and Dickens Street and the project is now at 49 percent completion. The tentative construction completion date is January 2016. For further information on this project please call our information line: (213) 367-3649 or visit LADWP.com and type City Trunk Line South Unit 5 in the search bar. LADWP thanks motorists and the local community for their patience during this ongoing project. We will continue to inform the community of construction progress and issue traffic advisories as needed throughout the project. ### |
