LADWP Board of Water and Power Commissioners to Hold Board Meeting & Special Meeting on Port Electrification in the Harbor Area

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners will hold a special board meeting on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Harbor Department’s Board Room, 425 South Palos Verdes Street in San Pedro.
Since being appointed to the Board by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the Water & Power Commissioners have held their regular board meetings in the San Fernando Valley and at LAX.
“We want to make LADWP Board meetings more accessible to our residents and stakeholders in the Harbor Area so we have scheduled this meeting at a location that should be more convenient for them,” stated Board of Water & Power Commission President David Nahai. Normally, meetings are held at LADWP headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
A special committee meeting to discuss the electrification of the Port of Los Angeles, a collaborative effort between the LADWP and Port of Los Angeles will follow the Board meeting at approximately 5 p.m.
A representative from LADWP’s Energy Efficiency Division will be on hand at the Board meeting to provide information on the Department’s energy efficiency programs. Free energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) will also be distributed to the first 50 people in attendance.
