LADWP Awards $360,000 in Energy Efficiency Grants to Five Los Angeles-based Non-Profits

“These organizations exemplify the best of what Los Angeles has to offer by focusing on energy efficiency promotion in our communities and neighborhoods,” LADWP Chief Sustainability and Economic Development Officer Nancy Sutley said. “We are proud to help support their efforts and the efforts of other non-profits through our Community Partnership Grants Program.”

Each of the grant recipients was selected due to their focus on energy efficiency and support of Mayor Eric Garcetti’s “Save Energy LA” initiative. The Awardees include:

Liberty Hill Foundation – With partner organizations Communities for a Better Environment, Pacoima Beautiful and Union de Vecinos, Liberty Hill Foundation conducts green workshops engaging participants on how to be more energy efficient, trains residents to assist with energy efficiency outreach, reaches out to businesses on ways to be more energy efficient, and holds community events and meetings reaching 1,050 Angelenos each year.

Barrio Action Youth and Family Center – The Center provides 2,500 clients of Family Source Center programs with energy efficiency information, holds workshops to educate the public on energy efficiency and enrolls hundreds of Angelenos in case managed home audits featuring demonstrations on special energy efficiency measures and programs that could work for them.

Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment (PACE) – PACE reaches 500 Angelenos monthly through various channels and distributes multi-language energy efficiency kits to nearly 1,000 clients. The group also holds workshops and participates in community events while furthering energy efficiency education through social media.

African American Leadership Organization (AALO) – Through holding community events reaching nearly 1,500 residents, visiting church services reaching nearly 2,000 residents and through social media campaigning reaching nearly 2,500, AALO provides energy efficiency education to the Los Angeles community.

Clear Skies Ranch – The Ranch offers energy savings workshops to a network of 77 sober living homes, reaching nearly 4,000 Angelenos. Each home receives multiple LED bulbs, AC filters and thermostat programming as applicable.

Each of the organizations is a first time awardee in the Community Partnership Grants Program.

LADWP is currently in the application period for partnership grants to organizations that promote energy and water conservation within the Los Angeles community.  These grants are provided for efforts in individual City Council Districts as well as for a few at-large groups serving larger geographic areas. Applications are due February 10, 2017.
