Elderly Woman Struck by LADWP Dump TruckVictim sustained fatal injuries |
LOS ANGELES — An elderly woman who was critically injured yesterday morning when she was struck by a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power vehicle being driven by a Department employee at approximately 7:10 AM in South Los Angeles, has died, according to information received by the LADWP from authorities. The driver of the LADWP dump truck was turning left onto westbound Firestone Boulevard from northbound Fir Avenue when the vehicle struck the woman who was crossing the street. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of an elderly pedestrian near our Harbor North Water Yard,” said Ron Nichols, LADWP General Manager. “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the accident victim.” Our thoughts, our prayers, and our heartfelt sympathies are with them. The accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol who immediately responded to the scene, and by LADWP. “We are assisting the CHP with their investigation and investigating this incident internally to determine how it occurred and to help us prevent such accidents from happening in the future,” said Ron Nichols, LADWP General Manager. # # # |
